Cracking The Cracker Problem

19/12/2008

When a world famous biscuit manufacture wanted to solve a difficult sieving problem they turned to Farleygreene Ltd to provide the answer.

Needing to sieve their product to ensure absolute product quality, the problems they faced were little headroom, restricted space on the floor - constricted by the existing mixing equipment already in position - and the need to hold a bulk quantity of different sized products within this confined area.

Then having to have the product available, sieved on demand, to coincide with the mixing cycle were the basic issues. Making the equipment easy to clean and easy to dismantle to change the sieve meshes added to the task. After considering the requirements, the Sievmaster Segregator machine, suitably modified, and fitted with the new ‘Easi-lift’ sack tip hoods solved all the problems.

A special unit was designed which located within the area available, having a double sack tipping hood located over its top infeed gallery, but integral to the machine, each serving meshes of different sizes and fed separately. The internal capacity of the standard machine was increased to hold the full batch quantity, thus providing a bulk holding capacity for the next mix. This allows the batch mixes to follow on immediately without having to wait between mixing cycles.

The machine is simple to clean, the ‘Easi-lift’ sack tip hoods lifting automatically away to give open access to the top gallery and meshes. The machine can be dismantled, cleaned and returned to production within a couple of minutes. No special tools being required.

The results of this specially manufactured stainless steel machine provided all the answers to meet the need, together with providing the increased batch speed also required.
